Mindset
Matters
I use tools to help me communicate effectively in a way a dog best understands.
A balanced approach helps me be able to work with all types of dogs; fearful, excited and anxious.
My Board & Train Programs involve a deep understanding of your dogs history, personality and temperament.
During your dogs stay, they will be fully E Collar Trained which leads to off leash fun and a calm, happy dog!

Hello there! My name is Carlen. I have been obsessed with the idea of companion animals since I was a little girl. It comes at no surprise that I developed a love for helping others grow and bond with their dogs on a deeper level.
I attended Cedar Valley College in 2014 where I obtained my Veterinary Assistant Certification. Working in the veterinary clinic environment for 3 years helped spark my interest for dog psychology. I switched gears and started working for dog boarding/daycare facilities where I learned about dog body language, communication and facilitating proper dog socialization.
After purchasing my first puppy, Levi the Australian Shepherd, I dove head first into learning how to train a difficult dog. He was reactive, food aggressive, and strong willed from the moment we brought him home at 8 weeks. I started spending many hours watching Youtube for guidance and I purchased my first high quality e-collar. Levi soon became a well mannered member of society and fully e-collar trained. We now share a strong bond! He will be turning 7 in December and I owe it to him for teaching me about structure, discipline and leadership.
In 2017, I started working for my mentor where I assisted seminars for a Dallas pet rescue and taught private lessons. As I grew in my knowledge and skills, I look the leap and founded my own business Ears Up Dog Training in 2020.
I live with my 5 dogs Levi, Lumos, Kat, Chica and Millie, 1 cat named Hazel, and my wonderful husband Justus. We love going on on hikes and playing video games together in our free time. Interior design is my second passion and hobby. When I'm not training dogs, you will find me working on house projects like refinishing furniture, putting up trim, or redecorating for the new season.
